HD and HDMI on a Toppy!

Great news!

Neotion, a French high-tech company specialized in the digital television, reveals plans to llaunch a module based MPEG4 HD decoder that can be fitted into any DVB Common Interface slot!.

The module is meant to offer owners of IDTV's to
take advantage of MPEG4, but might work on a Toppy!

AND IT COMES WITH HDMI CONNECTION!!! So it could be the way to update Toppy!

It will be tested i Sweden and planed introduction 2nd semester 2007!.

Hi,
does not make any sense, as the TV-Stations relevant for us (germany !) use DVB-S2 (which is different to DVB-S). The Tuner in the standard Topfield receivers (except the HD-Receiver) have only DVB-S Tuners and so are not able to receive the broadcast

But for DVB-C it can be great...

We can record the HDTV Streams with the 5200PVRc at this time. And I think, with this module we can also decode it.

But, I think there are another problem:
I think, if there are any HDTV channels in the cable at the future (at this time only KabelBW will transmit the two HD channels from SAT.1 and PRO SIEBEN. At KDG only PREMIERE HD and Discovery Channel are in the cable), there are crypted. And I thnik, it is not possible, that a data stream can pass two CI Modules for a decryption.

The CAM is mainly designed for use with cable TV decoders, as you can read on the neotion website. Perhaps it will work with other receivers too.

But I think, the main problem in germany is, that every cable provider will crypted the programm. And as I write above, I don't think, that it is possible that the Data-Stream will pass two CI-Modules.

But in countrys without any encryptet HDTV Stations, and if the price is also OK (max. 200 EUR), it is a fine product.

Have a look at my attached picture: Isn't there a smart card in the module?
If it is a smart card I wonder what encryption system(s) are supported...

Most probably, that will be the case in any network.

So you have to integrate decoding and decription into one module. Maybe that's what those guys are up to.

As far as I know the Neotion MP4 Pocket CAMs are available for Viacess and Conax, and planed for Irdeto and Cryptoworks. Not sure what systems the Neotion Boxer CAM is supporting.
