There is an update on the tool to download via RS232C, so that it can be done from a dual core CPU

Why should there be an update? RS-232 is RS-232, no matter whether there is a single or dual core CPU. Maybe you got a problem with your operating system. My notebook change from single to dual core did not influence any of my RS-232 using applications.
