The provided image is based on the Linux operating system and includes the Enigma2 PVR application.

Unsupported features and known problems
---------------------------------------
- CAM slots are not supported yet.
- The only supported tuner type is DVB-S2 CX24116/CX24118.
- Timeshift does not work yet.
- Rewind does not work properly. Sometimes enigma2 freezes when rewinding.
"Jump back" can be used instead (see playback keys).
- Samsung LCD TVs will probably have problems with the default resolution
576i.
- There might be no video on the FIRST (!) start after installation - reboot
the box.

Installation instructions
-------------------------
You will need either a USB stick or a USB harddrive with FAT32 filesystem.
- Copy the files Enigma_Installer.tfd, uImage and rootfs.tar.gz to the USB
device.
- Attach the drive to the USB slot.
- Open the Topfield firmware update menu and select the image file
Enigma_Installer.tfd on the USB drive.
- Start the firmware update from USB.
- After about 6-7 minutes the installation should be finished.
DO NOT REMOVE THE USB DEVICE UNTIL the INSTALLATION HAS FINISHED.

During the installation the VFD shows the current installation step and
error messages (if any):

"9 USB STCK" mouting USB stick
"8 HDD PART" partitioning HDD
"7 HDD FMT" formatting HDD (root fs)
"6 HDD FMT" formatting HDD (data fs)
"5 HDD SWAP" creating swap
"4 ROOT FS" installing root file system
"3 LOADER" flashing U-Boot settings
"2 KERNEL" flashing kernel
"1 FSCK" checking file system
"0 REBOOT" rebooting within 2 seconds

It is recommended to attach a cable to the serial port and log the output in a
terminal program (e.g. TeraTerm) during the installation and the first start.

The USB filesystem should be writable to prevent infinite installation loop.
(The file uImage is renamed to avoid the infinite loop.)

The first start usually takes approximately 3 minutes due to creation of
device nodes.

Enigma2 can be removed by flashing a regular Topfield firmware image using
standard tools like TFD-Down or VegaPack.

First start
-----------
On the first start the Enigma2 interactively configures the video output to be
used. The following options are available:
- Component
- HDMI
- Scart
- HDMI-PC
Each connection type is switched on for 30 seconds. The VFD displays the
connection type which is currently active. You can either wait until the
connection type you want is displayed and your TV shows a picture or you
can select the connection type with Up and Down buttons on the remote control.
Confirm the desired connection type with the Ok button. After that you can
proceed with the configuration supported by the configuration ******.
The image contains a default channel table. If you want to replace it You can
perform a channel scan later.

Network configuration
---------------------
The U-Boot settings contain the following configuration by default:
MAC address 00:3e:9e:11:22:33
IP address 192.168.178.100

That is after booting the image you can login via telnet if your computer is in
the same subnet.

These values are set up by the U-Boot. You can temporarily change the values
in Enigma2 menu "Settings/System/Network.../Adapter settings" or change the
U-Boot parameters.

Default U-Boot bootargs:
ba1=console=ttyAS0,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=192.168.178.100:192.168.178.10 :192.168.178.10:2 55.255.255.0:tf7700:eth0ff nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:00:3e :9e:11:22:33

To change the IP addresses interrupt the U-Boot countdown and execute the
following command with replaced IP addresses:
TF7700> set ba1 'console=ttyAS0,115200 root=/dev/sda1 rw init=/bin/devinit ip=<own IP>:<server IP>:<DNS IP>:255.255.255.0:tf7700:eth0ff nwhwconf=device:eth0,hwaddr:00:3e :9e:11:22:33

Please note that the setting has to be split in two lines to bypass the
limitation of U-Boot. The second line must start with a white space. The
string is enclosed in single quotes. Any change is temporary unless the
settings are saved to flash using the command "saveenv". Before saving
settings to flash you should test whether the kernel boots with your settings.
Enter "boot" at the U-Boot prompt to start the kernel. (After testing the
settings without saving them you will have to enter your changes again.)

Playback keys
-------------
Play - shows the file list
Yellow - pause/unpause playback
Green - continue playback
Red - jump to the beginning
Blue - jump to the next bookmark
1/3 jump 15 seconds backwards/forwads (configurable in the settings menu)
4/6 jump 60 seconds backwards/forwads (configurable in the settings menu)
7/9 jump 5 minutes backwards/forwads (configurable in the settings menu)

Full key map can be found in the file /usr/local/share/enigma2/keymap.xml.

natürlich lassen sich skins installieren. default ist vader eingestellt

linux
als basis dient hier linux. ein echtes linux. also keine restriktionen. übers netzwerk kann aufgenommen oder gestreamt werden. (nfs-mount) ein ftp-server ist natürlich auch installiert

plugins
für e2 sind ne menge plugins installiert, über deren sinn man sich streiten kann, aber fritzbox-callmon oder das sport-info plugin sind schon ne feine sache, an die man sich schnell gewöhnt.

mediaplayer
der unterstützt sehr viele formate. divx, xvid, vob, mpeg2, m2ts, ts, trp... um mal einige container zu nennen. selbst mkv wird unterstützt. dts-ton ist auch kein problem

dunkle seite
gegen sie schattenseiten kann man nichts tun[/quote]

Hello all,
i'll do this in english because my german is not that well in writing...

i tried to load the image on my 7710HDPVR;
i have all 3 files on my USB stick (FAT32) in the root of the stick.
the image loads fine, the display blinks with "END..." so i reboot but i waited more than 10 minutes, nothing on the display, nothing happens;

so i loaded back the latest org fw for the 7710HDPVR with topset/nullmodem and it runs fine again and it appears that the Disk is not formatted, still all data is on it.

So: am i doing something wrong or is this image not working on a 7710HDPVR ?

Warum sollte das sein? Die TF7700 ist gleich an die TF7710. Nur die Versionsnummer (zB 23331, 23231, 23531) sind anders.

Did you try to reboot the Toppy once or twice before reinstalling the original firmware (stick needs to stay attached)? Another hint could be gathered by logging the output from the serial interface while trying to install e2.

Überprüft doch mal die DateiNamen auf dem USB-Stick !
Enigma_Installer.tfd, uImage und rootfs.tar.gz
Wenn schon mal installiert wurde dann wird aus dem uImage ein uImage_ gemacht, damit bei einem neustart die installation nicht in schleife abläuft.
Einfach das _ bei uImage_ entfernen, dann kann es wieder los gehen mit dem flashen.
Sonst kann man warten bis man schwarz ist und es tut sich einfach nichts nach dem neu start.

Das stimmt so nicht ganz. Wenn Du schon einmal erfolgreich geflasht hast, bootet die Box trotz uImage_ normal hoch. Der Stick wird dann ignoriert. Oebele ist bisher noch kein einziges Mal erfolgreich umgestiegen. Deshalb wird das uImage auf seinem Stick auch noch nicht umbenannt sein.

ich weiss ja nicht wo er seine Dateien her hat.
Könnte ja sein das einer von dem stick ein Kopie gemacht hatte nach dem installieren.

i connected my nullmodem cable that i use with topset with a terminal program (Hyperterminal) to see what happens, no normal characters output.
on the topfield display nothing shown after reboot;
usb stick still in USB port of TF7710...

If the Enigma_Installer.tfd loader is installed correctly, you should get some readable output within 2 seconds after switching on your Toppy.

You can test the terminal connection with the Topfield firmware. Press ENTER and you should get a
Terminal settings: 115200 / n / 8 / 1, no handshake

welches Festplatte hast du drin im Topfield ? Vielleicht braucht die Platte zu lange bis sie verfügbar ist.
Ich würde nochmal die Netzspannung wegnehmen und nochmal den Receiver starten.
Es kann einen Augenblick dauern bis die erste Meldung ""9 USB STCK" mouting USB stick" am Display des TF erscheint. Aber 10 Minuten sind zuviel.

OK, ich wurde das morgen wieder versuchen; dank für die antworten!

OK,

I tried again with the correct serial settings;
now i see what happens;

it says:

reading uImage

0 bytes read
##booting image at 85000000
Bad Magic Number


so i tried to unzip the file teamducktales_enigma2_for_tf7700hdpvr.tar.gz again (with winzip), get the .tar and unzip the .tar with winzip and have the 3 files again;
put this again on the usb
press
boot

it scans the usb stick again and same error happens again;

any clue ?

i tried another usb stick, newly fat32 formatted and now is it installing!
