Hello,
I am having a problem with SE V6.0b (and possibly older) where some future programs "go missing"
For example, all channels are scanned one day (at 04:30) and I see 7 days programs in each channel.
The next day, I notice that data for one LCN only extends to 2 days, although the other LCNs for the same broadcaster still extend 7 days.
When I notice the problem, the built-in EPG shows the full week.
Rescanning the current transponder will generally restore the full list.
I have noticed this with two different broadcasters.
I assume either
1. the broadcaster is dropping data at that time of day, or
2. the saved EPG is corrupted.
What is the best way to check this?
I think the saved epgs are in the files named 0000_nnnnn.eit. Do you have any scripts for analysing their validity?
Edit:
I just noticed it in the same state.
For one LCN, the program list appeared to stop at 05:00 on Friday 2014-03-28, however there were also two entries on Thu 2014-04-03 from 07:00 to 08:00.
I initiated a "scan current transponder", but by mistake the current live view was on an LCN of a different broadcaster to the one showing the error.
The live display did not move off the channel, but as it went through the process of recreating the database it listed all of the .eit files.
When finished, the missing days programs had returned.
EPG contents being lost.

If you go into the info menu (Menu – Info from any SmartEPG view), there is the list of scanned transponders and what SE thinks if it has seen all the data. This percentage is usually accurate and provides a hint if there were scan problems. If all transponders are reported as 100% finished, the chance is quite high that the EPG data wasn’t available at that time of the day. If it happens regularly, try to move the scan time by 1 hour or so. This also happens here in Europe from time to time and then we say that the trainee is flipping the switches.
There is no public tool to decode the EPG or other databases. If you would like to see a decoded version, you can send me a SE backup and I’ll convert it into an Excel sheet. But I’m quite sure that this will show the same information the SE displays.

I suppose the info is the same as in SE_SystemReport.log.
I have looked at the last weeks' contents from the backups, and all say 100% for all transponders.
However, I see a problem. It looks like the system report only contains the result from the most recent scan. So every time I notice the problem, and rescan, then the log from the early morning scan will be overwritten. Likewise the .eit files will be updated.
I will need to copy over the files before I change anything - which I only did yesterday.
So, last night I noticed a problem with SBS HD missing most of the programs (as noted in first post). I did the following...
- saved the .eit and .log files
- did a "scan current transponder", which was on ABC
- copied .eit and .log files to a new folder
- checked EPG and SBSHD now had all programs listed.
- switched to SBSHD, did a "scan current transponder"
- copied .eit and .log files to a 3rd folder
You can see it only rescanned the ABC channels, and yet when it rebuilt the EPG it had rediscovered the missing SBS programs.
If the EPG entries were missing from the early morning scan, then where did they reappear from?
