Thanks, got everything. Now I see from the time stamp of the backup that it is an automatically created backup and these exclude the EPGDB folder. Just the ones started via SE’s menu include everything.

That's not necessary because these files just contain the information from the last scan and therefore would be a waste of backup space. The good news is that I now can reproduce the infobox issue.

And here are my findings:
Re. Infobox: I’m currently not sure where the problem is coming from but I haven’t seen that anybody is using an EPG history of 14 days. But I would suggest leaving it that way for now and if the problem reappears in about 2 weeks, we know where it is coming from. At least do we now have a much simpler process to fix the issue.
- Switch off the “Online timer” (29 IQTuner Setup – Use Online Timer = No). Because it is not configured, it seems to block SE during its shutdown and may play a role in the shutdown issue, we’ve discussed some days ago.
- Stop SE
- Delete the file “0000_58676.eit” from the EPGDB folder because it is damaged and even let’s my Toppy reboot.
- Delete all “*.eventdb” files from the EPGDB folder.
- Launch SE. SmartEPG will recreate all database files and afterwards the infobox scrolling should be working again.

Thank you! I will perform all those fixes, and let you know the result. I will leave the 14-day history in place (which I like, because we can never remember what's aired) until we diagnose further.
I will turn off IQTuner for now. However, I have to question your findings that it isn't configured. While travelling, we have often used the email server to set a timer.

Would ensuring that IQTuner is configured be as good as turning it off?

My analysis was relying on a lot of these:
I leave it up to you how you get rid of them.

I have another question: by "complete rescan," you don't mean the native rescan of my tuner, do you? I am assuming you mean resynchronising the channel list.
Any idea what caused the .eit corruption? I am guessing it will happen again.

OK, got it: you meant to rescan with item 04.
Thanks for the troubleshooting: all is working! Great job, as usual. I will play around with the online timer, and look for those entries in the log. I will let you know what happens.

You can either wait for the next daily scan or use 04 of the menu. The channels should be ok.
I don't know and I currently do not think that it has something to do with these issues. Let's see if it happens again.Any idea what caused the .eit corruption? I am guessing it will happen again.
/Edit: "or use 04". You were faster.

Vanished guide
I came back to the PVR later in the day to find the SE Guide completely empty: no programs, no channel logos, nothing. I am rescanning now to see what happens; I should have attached the log first, but didn't think of it. I need to look through the log myself, too.
It seems too big a coincidence to be unrelated to the changes earlier today.
The scan did not fix the problem. I am going to restore from a backup, which may restore the earlier problem; will advise.

I figured it out... sort of. SmartEPG wasn't involved.
Somehow, the system was set to my "Radio" favourites list, but showing me TV stations. Very confusing. Restoring the correct favourites list, obviously, revealed the correct guide entries again.
Curiously, I restored from backup attempting to fix this. After restoring from backup, I can still scroll through the Infobox. I wouldn't have expected that.

Hi,
I want to follow this advice Firebird gave me a long time ago:

Re: AW: Vanishing Padding
the timers are stored in the flash of you receiver and in the timer.db for SmartEPG and the recorded events are stored in the three file*.db files. all this files are locaded in another folder (one above)keith_leitch hat geschrieben: ↑So 3. Mär 2019, 08:32

Re: Vanishing Padding
Thanks. I meant that I was worried about the searches, not the timers, but I think you have answered that. It seems that "rm *.eventdb" will do no harm. Any idea how long it takes to rebuild them?

Re: Vanishing Padding
they are rebuild by every scan...depends how much services you have in your scan list.
the search itself is stored in the search.txt in the same folder where the timer.db and file*.db is located.

Re: Vanishing Padding
Hello again. In the last two days, all series searches are recording every episode. They are no longer blocking episodes that I previously recorded. I have tried SmartEPG_Restore with no luck. Any advice?
EDIT: I may know the cause of this. Can I ask which file or files keeps track of recorded episodes?

Re: Vanishing Padding
Hi Keith, File.db is the one that tracks all recordings. FileText.db and FileTextStrings.db also belong to the file database.

Re: Vanishing Padding
you have to stop SmartEPG before you restore this files and restart it then again.
then start a new search from page 6 with record
