Hi, I'm Italian friend and excuse me if I post here.
I would want to know if it is possible to modernize firmware of the decoder via satellite. They could make on astra 19 east or on hotbird 13 east? Thanks

Well, yes, it is possible, but you cannot be sure to find the newest firmware on sat. So updating the firmware over the serial port is better - know ow that works?

Anyway, you can give the ota update a try, here are the frequencies:

Astra 19,2°:

• Frequenc: 12603 MHz
• Symbolrate: 22000 Ks/s
• Polarisation: Horizontal
• PID: 347

Hotbird 13°:

• Frequency : 12.673MHz
• Symbolrate : 27500 Ks/s
• Polarisation : Vertical
• PID: 730

Bonni, frequence doesn't go
I think that this frequence is the some is in faq of http://www.topfield co/kr. I know they, but doesn't go!
other ideas?

Well, Pilucchetta, the frequencies are correct - according to my own Topfield's update menu.

So what does "frequency doesn't go" mean? The Topfield tells you, that you've got the newest software?

That's what I said: not always the newest on sat. And if your serial port is broken, I think there is no chance to update the software now.

Is there any special need to update it? Which version (by date) do you currently have?

But there is some problem with audio
You sayd that firmware via OTA doesn't available always on the satellite?

Well, yes, according to the Topfield homepage the newest firmwarm is 2006-10-11. Should be ota soon. Just give it a try here and then...

which bootloader has your 4000?
it depends on the bootloader if your 4000 can uptade the firmware by sat.

normaly the 4000 must say "there is no new firmware on sat" (something like that )

Oops, I did not know, that there are TF4000 with bootloaders that are not able to perform an OTA update.

Well, that's twilight's 4000 experience I do not have...

It's always sent some FW OTA but NOT always the newest one... ;-)

And you have already nearly the newest BETA firmware on your receiver, which should cause no Audio-Problems (on the satellite is a older one from April which definitely has some Audio-Problems... at least with german TV stations).

AFAIK, there's only a known Problem with Tele-Text and encoding of encrypted channels with your current FW. The newer official FW from 11.10.2006 solves this problems, but introduces a few other, so I'm not sure if this version will make it on the satellite...

BTW,... if your serial connection is broken, how did it happen that a BETA Firmware is on your receiver?

The serial cable was broken than I download last firmware
Do you know if Topfield will leave a new firmware on air next month? Or 400pvr will die?

Well, Topfield does not talk about release dates any longer, so nobody knows when a new firmware will arrive.

And I don't think the 4000 will die, but it seems, Topfield concentrates more on newer models. As every company does...
