Hi everybody
I'm the proud owner of a TF5400 with 500GB harddrive.
When I use the EPG (guide) to record a program - it only works part time.
That is, sometimes it works, and sometimes the recording won't start or (seldom) the recording starts - but nothing is recorded and the screen is Black - further, remote and buttons on the reciever doesn't respond.
Do any of you have some clue of what could be the error ? Claus

Try unplugging the AC cable for 30 minutes. This normally solves this kind of problems.

That does'nt function - you see, the reciever functions quite normally, unless you want to record something. Then it, maybe, goes "black" or doesnt record at all.
Once I observed, by wathing the EPG, that a program I wanted to record, was "deleted" when the recording should take place - that is: the Red mark on the program, disappeared !

Sorry, your problem does not seem to be described detailed enough to me.
I am a 5400 owner myself for almost two years now and I have never experienced anything like what I understand of you what are describing.
Perhaps some more information would help:
· what country are you using your receiver in ?
· what is your firmware version?
· any TAPs running?

btw, I am not using the internal EPG for recording at all. I love the 3PG TAP!

I'm using the 5400 in Denmark. I have bought it used (in Germany). Originally there was a 80GB HD, but I bought a 500GB and built it in instead (HD is optimized for recording purpuses).
My firmware is, I believe, the latest from 26/6 2007. And no, I have'nt any TAP's running.
After I startet to fill my HD with recordings - the reciever have gone a bit "slow" compared to what it used to be. That's why I have'nt tried any TAP's - I'm afraid it will slow it more down.
Please ask more, if you need more info.

PS: I also write and understand German - I have only written this in English so that everybody - not only Germans - could understand what I say. (more chance of getting help I thought)

Hi Tresman,

welchen HD Typ hat du eingebaut? Hier im Board gibt es eine Menge threads die sich genau damit beschäftigen. Falsche Platte bedeutet oftmals genau die Fehler, wie du sie beschrieben hast. Ich habe in meinem 5400 eine 250'er Samsung, ohne jede Probleme.

Ich habe eine WD platte eingebaut : WD5000AVJB.

WD-Platten sind von Topfield nicht freigegeben, nur Samsung und Seagate.

diese Platte ist eine CE und soweit ich weiss ist Topfield dran, diese doch auch freizugeben.
Soweit ich mitbekommen habe, läuft diese bei mvordeme und nilssohn einwandfrei.

Aber was glaubt du dann ist die ursache für den aufnahme fehler ?
Ich habe selber gedacht, vielleicht der Stromversorgung (Kondensator kaput) ???

Wenn du die alte HDD noch hast, schließe diese an, ob der fehler weg ist. Dann kannst du den Topf als Ursache ausschließen.
Es ist aber trotzdem gut möglich, dass dieser Typ/Baureihe mit dem WDs einfach nicht klarkommt. Du hast die WD im Topfield formatiert?

Ja das habe ich - und ich will, morgens wenn zeit, den Alten HD wieder einbauen lassen.
(Meine Frau beschwört sich sicher darüber, weil der alte Platte ein lautes Frequenz macht !)
