I have installed on my computer TOPSET 2.0. I have tried to connect my Topfield 7700 HSCI to my PC by USB 2.0 Cable. When I open the Topset 2.0 and Read settings from receiver the program says Waiting for request. Please reboot the receiver. I reboot the receiver but can not connect to my receiver. I have installed the Necessary USB - Driver for the Topfield Receiver but impossible. ¿What is the solution?
Thank you,,

you have to use a zero modem cable. (you have to change on topset the board too)
the usb board is a master board....for usb stick or harddisk.

Do not use USB connection. Use Nullmodem cable for RS 232.

Use USB-RS 232 adapter cable + Nullmodem cable together.

Just curious:
What cable you used for that? That should not be possible using standard cables available on the market
And, using a handcrafted cable is not a good idea, both sides now are supplying the 5 Volts and so the power supplys are fighting each other... (you own a good fire extinguisher?
)

And what's with
this one? This is a "host to host"-cable! Originaly it is for a Technisat, for example! Is it possible to use this on a Topfield too?

Nope, that is not a cable but a communication device that connects to two PC using USB.
It requires special Software on both PC to do useful work.
And that software does not exist for a Topfield
And: it is USB v1.1 and therfore painfully slow!

Hi, I have bought a USB-RS 232 adapter cable + Nullmodem cable together. When I connect the cable on my PC, is detected "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM 9)". Now I open TOPSET 2.0 and going to TOOLS/OPTIONS/CONNECTION and I put
Use Serial /Connection COM PORT: COM 9
Now I'm going to
FILE and <Read setting from receiver> and
START, then...."Waiting for request. Please reboot the receiver." I reboot the receiver but nothing. I'm desperate....
PLease HELP ME¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
THANK YOU FROM SPAIN

But it works with a Technisat DigiCorder S2...! Thats wy i thought it could be a solution for a topfield with "host to host" usb too!

You must see in PC equipment manager-ports COM and LPT : PROFILIC USB-to-Serial COM port (COM 3) after connecting of USB-RS 232 adapter cable.
Of course in Top set 2.00 must be set in Connections: Serial and COM 3.
For fw ...84 must be used new version Top set 2.00 to find here in board.

I have not tried (and failed)...
So there is a chance, but my optimism is
low, there would be no Logic behind
That Technisat: have you seen it running? out of the box? or was there some kind of 'TAP' involved? Or is that a Linux based box?

Your picture doesn't show a nullmodem-cable, look at reichelt.de and search for "AK143", that's
what you need together with the usb-rs232-adapter
.

I saw it live on television, but it was not a fw-update, it was a filetransfer! On
this page you can see the description for this! But i don't no, if it could work on a topfield too, because of the special technisat-software named "mediaport" you would need for this...!
ot: Sorry for my very poor english...!

So the Firmware of the Technisat is aware of that Gadget and their version of 'altair' (Mediaport) is written to use it.
So it would work on a Topfield in case
1) Topfield would build in the support in their Firmware or
2) the 7x series would have a Tap API so that one of our FW gurus could implement it.
I would not hold my breath until that happens!
