TopField GUI - Application for Web Configuration

Beitrag von flemlion » Fr 7. Nov 2008, 15:00

As I am not that big a fan of Internet Explorer only, or even Windows only applications, I've developed a little tool that enables you to use the Topfield 7700HDPVR web functionality from a java application.
That means you use it on pretty much any platform and even without any browser.

On top of that you can select a list of recordings and download all of the related files automatically with just two mouse-clicks (because I added a confirmation dialog).

For those interested it is available from http://www.flemlion.net/topfield/.

It does require you to install java 6 (see http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp), but that should be it.
The installer should create shortcuts on Windows and Linux (when the proper desktop is available). Unfortunately IzPack does not enable this for MacOS yet, so there you'll have to follow the instructions to do it yourself.

And if you do use it, feedback is welcome, so I know which 'feature' I should look at first for any next version.

Cheers mate, realy nice ;)

Check out the TV Browser Plugin from Saschalink

It's a great tool to set the timers from the TV Browser programm listings to the topfield.

Nice work. I love the display of the files which is much more confortable as the web interface from Topfield. Streaming possibilities would be perfect if it can be implemented.

Looks promising!
What do you think about a command line parameter function? With that one could pass the necessary parameters to create recording timers from EPG programs like TV-Browser, TV-Movie Clickfinder etc.

Thank you very much.

The Download (all-in-one) Option is perfect, especially for large HD Files.

Perhaps there could be an option for a download queue, so you could backup the whole HDD with one click or just download several recordings in a row.

3. The Filelist is wrong in Subdirectories (there are 23 Recordings...). The Main-Directory is OK.

I hope you appreciate some feedback.

I just tried to download some large files, but after 2-3 1,5 GB Files the download is not working anymore. There is no progress on the download bar, also there are still some more files to download.

It doesn't stop inbetween a one-file-download, but it doesn't start the next file, when the predecessor file is finished.

Perhaps you can fix this.

Thank you very much for your work.

Try selecting more than one file, or double-clicking on one while you are already downloading, and then see what happens

Do downloads work properly otherwise (using your browser)?

Because otherwise it seems you have either problems with your network or your TF, because during a download the program is just doing dumn data moving work (network to disk).

Hi,

I think I've found the problem. I've always tried to download the whole recording, but when I switched the files details on and downloaded just the "big" files (no *.add, etc) everything worked perfect.

Also nix installiert? Entpackt?

English:
Just doubleklick on the ""FlemLion-TopField-0.3-install.jar" will install the tool.

If you already installed it: I've got an icon on my desktop. If you do not have an icon: install flemion again and activate the checkbox "Create additional shortcuts on the desktop" at the last dialog.

Gruss
Micha

@flemlion: First of all - great work!

I assume that it is ok for you to receive feedback regarding issues here. I have to second what klax reported above. I get the same error, upon startup as well as when clicking the "Timers" tab. The text in the error box suggest that there is something wrong with handling the timers correctly. I have firmware .26, so maybe this issue only appears with .26, and other users have not yet upgraded to this version?

Great programme! Some feedback and questions:

1) Got some issues with the installation on my Vista Home edition pc. I could not complete the installation sequence (was refused access to 'C:\Programme Files') and when I tried to install in some other directory, the error was: ‘cannot save start.bat’ or something. Anyway it seems most files were installed after all, and after adjusting the contents of the start.bat file (replacing all the text before the first '–cp' with ‘java’ it actually works! Since I was not able to complete the installation sequence, is there something else that I would need to adjust manually, apart from the contents of the start.bat file?
2) The process of listing all recorded programmes (around 80) is quite slow: takes at least 10 minutes; probably a slow network connection or do others have the same observation?
3) Occasionally I get the same pop up error as other people have reported when the list of files is downloaded; however, when I click OK, the process simply continues.
4) I get no overview of the timer listings: just the same pop up with error message

Anyway, great programm and thanks for all the work!

All installation problems solved: Vista's 'user access' security business was playing up: the software works and files can now be downloaded easily from the topfield, unfortunately still no overview of timer settings, but apart from that: the programme rocks!!!!
