My box does not work with harddrive
My box does not work with harddrive
I have a new TF7700HDPVR but it does not work with the harddrive. First I used a Samsung HM250JI (2½"). It did not work, but I thougth it was the harddrive. Earlier version of that disc have problem in Mac and PC computers. My have the new fixed firmware. Well I spend a lot of time to get a hand off one of the preferable Saegate discs.
I have now a Seagate DB35.3 400GB (ST3400820SCE). But it still does not work. Fault symptom:
- Sometimes at start the display shows L232 for a second and when nothing, no text in the display and nothing more happends.
- Sometimes at start it want to format the harddrive. Sometimes the format goes on forever (over 10 hours). Sometimes the format is ready immediate, but the disc size is wrong (over 1000GB). At shutdown the verifying files and folders message appear forever.
Is there some special things todo when mounting the harddrive?
Jumpers or special/secret settings that must be done?
Can my box be faulty?
PS. I have tested the harddrive connected to a PC (via USB) and it works ok.

Hi Top4,
of course the box might be faulty. You should verify the following:
1. check cable connections of hard drive.
2. is firmware version 7.00.16 loaded? If not, do so via satellite.
3. do a reset to factory settings.
Regards, Uwe

Hello,
try the Harddrive to jumper to 150 Mb/s, your HD is a Sata 2 and the Topf has only Sata 1.
If that doesn´t work try an other HD and if that is negativ, maybe your Topf it´s faulty

Hi
I have the new firmware, updated via RS2323. But I had not done factory reset. Now I have done the factory reset, no change.
Now I have mounted a jumper on the hardrive... it works! The format was done in a couple of seconds and it shows the correct size.
The time will tell if it is just a mere chance or that the jumper did the work. My self think it's little strange that the jumper should affect it like this. Either the communication works or not. Anyway, now I do a channel search and should test it out.
Thanks!

Please use follwing parameters in menu Installation -> OTA Firmware Upgrade:
Satellite: Astra (19.2E)
Frequency: 12603 Mhz
Symbol Rate : 22000 Ks/s
Polarisation: horizontal
PID: 347
(refer User Guide, page 81)
@Top4
the point with the jumper seems be strange, but not so strange if you know, that only a sata-1 controller working in the tf7700.
the results of your tests now may be very interesting for the whole community, please tell us again.

Hi again
I have now run several hours, making some recordings and done several switch off and on. It's seems to work. The hdd jumper was needed (on the Seagate DB35.3).
However the Samsung disc was a SATA1 (1.5Gbps), but behaved in the same strange way.
PS. Not all things work as I would wanted it to do in the box. I might start another thread with some more questions, later on.
Thanks
