There is a SmartEPG_Restore.tap and if you have AutoBackup enabled (item 35), you can restore to yesterday's data. Just boot with 0, launch SmartEPG_Restore and restore the latest usable backup and restart SE.
If that doesn’t work, or if no backups are available, save the files /ProgramFiles/Settings/SmartEPG_TMS/Search.txt and SmartEPG_TMS.ini. Then delete the content of that directory, reinstall SE and copy both files back while SE is not running. Then you should have your searches and settings and need to do a fresh scan.

It is something in the settings. When I did a full uninstall of SE and reinstalled it, the rebooting problem disappeared. However, when I used SmartEPG_Restore to bring back the settings files from as long as a week ago, the problem came back. I can't imagine redoing all my settings, but I guess I have no choice, unless anyone has any ideas. I still can't help but wonder what happened.

Hast du die Onlinetimer aktiviert? Gerti hat geschrieben das er mit seinen TAPs auf einen anderen Server umzieht und die Onlinetimer nicht funktionieren.

Yes, I recently activated the Onlinetimer function to use IQTuner. Do you think this could have caused the rebooting? The only solution was to do a fresh reinstall from scratch; any attempt to change the settings as Firebird suggested, and the Toppy rebooted. I have just turned Onlinetimer back on, and there is no problem yet, but I do not want to continue using it if it is causing this problem.
EDIT: Yes, that is it! As soon as I saved my settings after activating the online timer, the rebooting started again. (Unfortunately, I hadn't made a backup...so here we go again).
I will leave onlinetimer off until I hear more.

It seems that since I updated to version 6.2c, my recordings have not included the pre- and post-buffer times that I have set in SmartEPG. Has anyone else had this problem? I've temporarily disabled these, and set buffer times in the native system menu, but I'm guessing that this could mess up combined recordings.

i had thsi for some timers some weeks ago. i cant say what was the problem. i have deleted all timers and start a new search and since then all looks fine.
i cant understand that it is possible to use the pre and post buffer in the toppy settings. SE should set this to zero on every start of it.

After my reinstallation and upgrade, my settings were showing as leaving a 10/20-minute buffer, but I had to set these to zero, reset them, and save to make it actually happen. I also noticed that recordings were no longer combining, so I used SmartRestore to bring back last week's settings. All appears to be well, now.
You are right that the Topfield timers were set to zero, but not until I rebooted (so I didn't notice). It would be nice to use them, so that SmartEPG, Webcontrol and other programs could just be set to zero and still record with a common buffer.

Hi All,
Could some simple explanation of the new Search type "Recommendations" be posted so that in the absence of an up to date Guide in English then I could post advice on our Forums here as to how this process is to function.
Cheers

This is the feature where SE downloads tips from a TV magazine server. I think you had a short discussion with Gerti about that one. But as he is the one who as coded the function, Im not sure if and how it is possible to add an Australian server.

Thanks Firebird for that background.
Yes Gerti did ask for a suggested TV magazine site which I posted back. I heard nothing more after that. Perhaps you could get him to indicate if he was successful to implement that successfully for Australia.
You could pass on my email address again to faciltate quicker responses so that we can keep users informed here.
Cheers

I have activated the TVTipps and the Recommendations key is set at 7.
At this stage I see now visible signs of display changes.

Would the text below summarise how this is supposed to work?
In version SE 6.3 if users want to experience the new Recommendations Search mode then you should visit the SE menu and set Item 17 to 7 and then Item 25 to Recommendations. You will then need to select the Ya option to get to the next screen.
The view shows a list of programmes that might meet your own interests and also a list of up to 10 general recommendations for the next three days. For this function, the timers are matched with timers of other users and SmartEPG TMS generates recommendations.
This requires your acceptance of the transfer of your own timer data (hash of the program name), and the MAC address of the receiver. The MAC address is used for grouping and for allocating the timer to the receiver. Just like the timer data, it is exclusively used for this feature. Transmitted data will be deleted from the server after three days.
In order to exclude programmes from the recommendation, they can be marked and permanently hidden by pressing the blue button. For programmes bearing the name of the program in their title, only this individual title is hidden. For programmes carrying the episode number in brackets in the title, all entries are hidden.
Cheers

Dear Mike,
the recommendations are seperated in two different parts.
First one contains the recommendations from TV-Magazines (this is not yet implemented for Australia - I'm very busy at the moment), the second one contains recommendations based on what you are recording.
The second should already work for you, but it needs more users activating this feature to give you results.
The more users make use of this function, the better the results you will get.
For the first recommendations (they will be marked with a star) there is now an additional search mode available.

Hi Gerti,
I can report that SE V6.3 is working well on my 2400, but it does not respond on the 7160 which has exactly the same V loaded.
I notice that the 2400 is getting many more hits now which may mean more users are filling the suggestions.
Cheers

Hi Gerti,
In SE when the Recommendations is called up it lists the following text at the foot of the page:
Searchwide: Wide
Searchwide: Normal
Searchwide: Closely
if you update with the Yellow key.
What does wide, normal, closely change?
Perhaps in English .lng file
Searchwide could be more correctly Search Width, or Search Detail?
As I said earlier, the recommendations are working OK with the 2400, but no responses at all with the 7160.
Cheers

Hi!
This changes how many results you will get.
Wide shows more results, but maybe some didn't fit your interrests very well, normal shows less results and also less results which maybe didn't fit to your interrests and closely shows again less results which should fit best your interessts.
The TAP does not make any difference regarding the Receiver type, so I have no idea why it is not working for your second device. Does you have some or same number of timers on this device? It needs active timers to find shows for your interrests.

The 7160 consistently has 10+ upcoming timers, whilst the 2400 has at the moment twice as many, because it records dailt the same shows for Bargain Hunt
I just checked again and still nothing on the 7160 on wide, whilst the 2400 had 1 and after updating it had 4.
They are both on the same network and the 7160 can access TaptoDate so I am not sure what is going on.
I have another 7160 I can check it's operation on and will do so later on.
Cheers
