I've had numerous failed recording over the 12 months I've owned my Toppy. It seemed random initially, but now a pattern emerges:
Often (but not always) the recording is corrupted if I watch TV during the recording and change channels. It happens only when the channels I watch use the same PCMCIA slot as the recording (I have 2 active cards). It also happens if I pay attention *not* to use the same tuner as the recording.
A failed recording is:
- A duration that appears correct in the file list, but a small file size (example: 530 Mb, 2 hours 20 min)
- The recording starts ok, but then it freezes with the message "Absent, bad or encrypted signal".
Has anyone experienced the same problem ? Better yet: anyone has a fix ?

Welcome to the board.
It seems, that you have the same problem as we have discussed on the following [thread=7081]thread![/thread]. There is no solution right now, but it is difficult to catch or reproduce the bug.
It's only in german language, sorry we didn't know that before.
