Hi everyone,

in reponse to some of the messages on here, I've put version 0.4 up.
- You are now able to create timer entries from the command line.
- The exception that has been bugging some of you, will not occur any more, but I suspect things will still not be 100% rosy for those guys. If my suspicions are correct, could any of you turn on the Option 'Store Debug Logging' and then do a refresh on the Timer tab. This should generate some html files in your download directory that I'll need to fix this issue.
- There is an abort for file downloads that will clear the queue, but will not stop the current file. To stop the current file you need to disconnect. That's a limitation of the current internal architecture.

Hi, FlemLion.

First of all thanks for the new version.

I just played around with the new command line function. The first thing I did was trying to get the indices with list.bat but all I got was plenty of error lines like this:

Code: Alles auswählen

ERROR - ServiceScrape.getServiceList(55) | Unable to find Sat(0) from line: satelliteInfoTv[0].optionsValue[0] = 0;
ERROR - ServiceScrape.getServiceList(55) | Unable to find Sat(0) from line: satelliteInfoTv[0].optionsValue[1] = 1;

Semko,

you must fall in the category that can not get Timer management working, to quote myself, you need to send me the files mentioned below for me to be able to fix this :altermotzsack:

I was very enthusiastic to give your Java app a try on my MacPro (MacOS X 10.5.5). However, when double clicking the .jar file, I do receive an error mesage "You are running a 1.5.0_16 version of the Java platform." Looks quite odd, because I have already installed Java SE 6 Version 1.6.0_05. :thinker:

Hey,

great tool, but you have to be careful, it is possible to mix the recording names....

What happened:
  • I downloaded the single parts of a recorded film, with the name lets say "X".
  • I deleted the recording on the TF.
  • I downloaded another recorded film "Y" without refreshing the files-list of the GUI.
The film in the Y-files on my HD was another film "Z".

I think you need to refresh the files-list everytime something changes in the TF. I'm afraid you will have the same effect, when you are downlaoding a big list of files from TF an the TF starts to record somthing. That means: Overnight downloads of a big ammount of files should not be done, if you recording something during the download.

Am I right with my suggestion?

regards
Michael

I assume you have both installed and the default action for JAR files is still pointing to 1.5.
Unfortunately I'm not that MacOS aware to be able to give your more info that this.

As for the file download containing different content, I have also already gotten suspicious that the web service is not properly implemented from a 'stateless' point of view. I mean that the same request should generally give you the same response. The TF however seems to re-index the filelist on the fly and not keep the same index for a file for the entire life-time of the file. This is probably also what is causing some intermittant errors with file downloads that I've noticed and some people also reported on here.

explanation sounds resonable!
Ok, no problem. Always refresh file list, when something has changed on the TF side, befor downloading a file.........

The big benefit of the GUI: It is possible to download more than one film in a rush with acceptable performance! I'm very happy! Thanks flemion :hello: :hello:

In fact, the 1.6 update does not replace an existing 1.5 Java installation on MacOS X. I will try to find a solution and let you know. :D :

Problem solved - piece of cake! "Dienstprogramme" Java settings".

Holla.....versteh ich nicht. Hab zwar kein Vista, aber bei mir ging einfach ne Installationsroutine los.
Kann das einer der Spezialisten beantworten?

Hast du es mal mit dem zip file auf flemions Webseite probiert?
----------------------
@flemion: He has a problem to install the GUI. A double-Klick didn't starts the installation, he is asked, which application he want's to use to open the jar-file.
I asked him to try the zip file installation

his confiruration:
Vista
Internetexplorer 7
actual java installed

I have downloaded 14 files in one rush (the rec and the 001, 002, 00x parts of a recording.)
The TF hasn't been touched during the download.

Result: only one of the parts was the right film. All others parts are confused: a part named as "Film X" contains Film Y , Y contains Z and so on.

Has anybody similar problems?

My last idea: deactivate the point "Info Auto refresh", because it looks like the GUI is refreshing the info between every file. Maybe that confuses the TF.

Not nice..... hope it works, if only one film is downloaded....

Hi,

yes it is true,
every time you change a timer - new ids will be assigned!
Use properties of a record or timer to refresh the id!
The ids are useless, if you work with lists.

With Vista you can install the programma as well, but you need to deactivate User Access Control first; then restart the computer and then install the FlemLion programme.

In my bad english:
Many thanks for your tip,
Now I could install it.

Unfortunately, it does not download the files completely.
I have in each case in my purpose folder all files with space from approx. 5 KB.
What do i wrong?

Thanks semko, with this, I've able to fix this timer issue I think. Version 0.5 is just up with this fix and it includes better error handling on timers as well.

I had been working on improving the file download stability, but that work has completely broken that part, so I reverted to the previous code to be able to at least get this part out, as I've got a bit too much on my plate at the moment for the thorough investigation a fix would require.

Anyway, I do hope TopField to deliver something in that department as well, as some more stability on their part would definately help a lot more than anything I can come up with as workaround.

Hi FlemLion.

Thanks a lot for the new version. Timers are working perfectly now but there still is an issue with list.bat. It does not show any error messages now but the output file ServiceInfoList.txt is not created. I'll send you the log files by email again.
