Okay, Tapworld.

We do speak English (we try :-), why not! But: This is a german forum, so you/we can't assume that everybody is able to write and read English text. That's it why we answered on German only (and it's easier for us). And: I thought you would understand German, too.

Now to your page: I like your page. It's a great work with a huge amount of Taps - much more than on Strizzi's page. I visit both sites occasionally. But I don't like any battles between both authors!!!!!!!!!! My site is... Your site is... We aren't kids!

>This was written because I really try to understand you
>German persons sometimes, but I always end up into
>the solution: I can not understand you at all
I hope you mean by this that you can't understand German not us Germans...

Hello Tapworld,

it's uncontested that you have the site with the most TAPs. But that's not all. ;)
I think your site misses a structure. It's really unclear to list all TAPs in a row.
That's the reason why I've been at your site a few times but I didn't stay longer than a few minutes.

When I'm looking for a TAP for a special application I have no other chance that to rummage the whole list. And this takes a lot of time.

Another thing is, that's not clear which of all the TAP's are working on german (or UK, finnish, australien etc.) Toppies.

Screenshots would be fine, but for me the other points are more important.

This should be no critism but suggestions only. ;)

First of all, I do not understand any words of German language. I use http://babelfish.altavista.com when I try to discover new TAPs and their meanings from your forum.

Secondly, based on stories, rumours and discussion with my colleagues that work on Germany I really do not understand you German people. Bu I can live with that :-) People are different in different places (still you amaze me sometimes :-) ).

Third thing is that TAPs in TAPWorld are not grouped. I know that is a sort of problem.
TAPWorld has "recent changes" part which has changes for the last month. So if you visit TAPWorld once a month you will see all changes and new TAPs that way.
The main reason why I do not have any groupings is that I do not know what TAPs has for example any kind of MP3 functionality. And when TAPs are developed more they get more features (e.g. MP3 playlist etc.). And this german language is another story... It is quite hard to know what your TAPs do because I do not speak german and some of your TAPs does not have englis readme file (some of them does not have any documents!).

One example of this grouping is the Tivo -like TAPs. I just find out that also MyStuff can be used TiVo-way (in addition to zEPG, Jag's, UK Auto Scheduler, ...).

One more thing... I tried to get TAPWorld more up-to-date using these "report old version" buttons. Mostly I get false alarms :( but luckily some of the reports are real reports from old versions. But the false alarms takes my time out from updating and developing TAPWorld because I have to investigate every reports.

If someone wants to help me by reading this german forum and letting me know about new TAPs / versions, please send email to tapworld@gmail.com

Oh, great. It could be that you need a better translator than babelfish! A important notice for you: I think it's a rumour that we drink beer all the time, that we eat sauerkraut all the day and that we are great football player :-) It's my last comment on your analysis of ALL Germans.

I am not 'pampig' even I must seem to be 'pampig' to you.

I am only surprised why TAPWorld is seen as a grasping site (at least by one person).

I am also surpised why Strizzi's site is "advertised" as a 'meisten verfügbaren TAP' site in your wiki page even you all must know that this is not the case. Over half of the TAPs are missing there.

I am also surprised why TAPWorld has not been added into you site (I have actually once asked TAPWorld to be added there). And if you would not like to add TAPWorld there, you could add UK TAP list there (it has also more TAPs than Strizzi's site).

I am also surprised to get negative feedback of my site because users can not for example see what TAPs can be used to play MP3s and so on. If you are truthful, this german TAP site does not has so good grouping either, doesn't it? And I have not seen any negative feedback to this site... This german TAP site has also only small description and screen capture, nothing more. So I would like to hear why is it so much better than TAPWorld.

PS. I did not mean beer and football and so on. I mean german persons' attitude against non-german speaking persons. You germans are rude persons to non-german speakers. I might be very wrong, but this is the conception I have got for example from my colleagues working in Germany.

PPS. I really do not want to have one and only TAP site around there.

PPPS. I really do not want to have the best TAP site.

Jani, please go to Babelfish and translate the word "Blödsinn" first. This is what describes the quoted sentences.

I do not know any Germans who are rude to non-German speaking people. There might be a few, but this is not the mass. Ever been to France? (@erna: Nicht die nahe der Grenze  )

So please: Make your own opinion. If I would rely on my colleagues' opinion on other people I could shoot myself.

I know I should not trust hearsay.

But I am still trusting them a little. For example one colleague said that it is nice to go for example to the Netherlands from Germany because people are so much kind in Netherland than in Germany. People are talking english there and so on (opposite to Germany).

Unfortunately my Germany trip is only one night and one working day. I won't see a real Germany people there. I will only see hotel staff, colleagues and airport staff. I can not make an own opinion based on these customer servants and colleagues whose company's official language is english.

I must have made some conclusions from the rumours and maybe because of those conlcusions and your comments (that I have translated with babelfish and because of that maybe misunderstood) I have misunderstood you.

And yes, I have been on France...

I apologize if I have got you annoyed with my hearsay comments. This is the way I and many many more think you act when you see non-german persons.

I also know what foreigners think about Finnish persons (we really are quiet and so on).

One thing is, Jani, in Finland - and the rest of Scandinavia, as well as in the Netherlands e.g. - people learn English "automatically" and have to practise each day - when watching TV, going to the cinema and so on, although you got subtitle everywhere.

In Germany everybody learn more or less English at school, but then there is no need (and often no chance) to practise. Everything on TV in synchronised into German language.

That's a big big not to underestimated difference!

As far as I know, it is not so common in Finland to watch TV or cinema movies without reading subtitles. So we are not learning english from TV. We learn it at "basic" school (from grades 3 (10 years old) to 9 (16 years old) and after that it will be learned more in other schools.

But you are right, Germany is much bigger country so you will get e.g. computer programs more often in your native language and so on.

We here in Finland have only 5 millions people to discuss using Finnish language, so if we want to communivcate with others we have to learn suitable language for that.

I have a feeling (that might be totally wrong) that France has had "things" against UK hundreds of years and that is one reason why they do not like english language. France has also had colonies all over the world and France has been a really big player. That is another reson why they do not like english language.

But I do not know or guess why english is not used so much in Germany. Maybe it has something to do with your government decisions (support own language, other languages are not needed) but I do not know.

I personally think that if you want to have ability to communicate with others around the globe, you have to be able to speak english because english is the most common language in the world (except china, but I don't have to communicate with them so often :D : )

What's your point, tapworld? Should we begin to write here in English? For one foreign visitor? We DO speak English in our companies (yes, we are internationally-active). To say it for my wife and for me: We speak Italian, Spanish, English, French, English and German. We love to make holiday all over the world (USA, Canada, China...).

Again: What's your point? Are you angry that you don't understand our notices here? That you don't understand German people? That Strizzi has his own page? I think our conversation is OFF TOPIC here. That's my last post here.

Haven't you read what I have written here?
In the first point I was wondering why I was answered with germany when I was writing in english. Wouldn't it be polite to answer with foreign user's language?
I have also wondered in my head do you enjoy talking about me in your language when you know I do not understand it.

I still continue this off-topic journey...

I added categories to TAPWorld. These categories are added:
clock, epg, filelist, game, images, infobox, jump, music, pip, screensaver, searchwordtimers, timers

Please let me know if there is need for other categories or if some TAP should be added into some category.

Hopefully this makes searching TAPs in TAPWorld little easier

You can always give me a better formula to make top20 list.
I have not figured out such a formula and thats why I get every TAP with at least 5 votes into account.
