My beloved SRP2100-TMS is starting to make too much trouble :'(

So I have a VU+ Duo 4K SE coming my way - new gadget :-)

Are you loading some different software to it, or using it as it comes ?

I saw some youtube video about OpenPLI, OpenTV and other stuff, not sure what to chose if anything - is it best as it is out of the box ?

First try if the SoftCam is working because then you don't need a nightly decoding.

With VTI 15 loaded, what's next - Horst told me about an EPG program which can do automatic recording reservations based on search words, like I used to with Jags EPG. Actually most our recordings are done that way.
What else is recommended ?
Is there anything like FastSkip, or does it have similar functionality as is ?

FastSkip is already installed with VTI-Image. It is called SmartSeek.

There are no instructions for the Duo 4k SE. What is the USB stick directory name for this one ?

Ps. I told my wife about the timeshift not able to go back in a live transmission - she's not impressed. The whole family is actually used to this and we use it quite much. I hope it will be possible in the future. I tried to sell her the idea that with SoftCAM we may be able to have all recordings directly decoded, at least that is something I look forward to.

That's not true. If you get used to press the pause key || at the beginning of the live transmission for a short time, you are able to use timeshift as you did using Topfield recorders.

I saw other people discussing the timeshift on the vu support forum, and they seem to be convinced that automatic timeshift works, if only you don't set the time to start recording after a channel shift to a too low value.

Yes, you need to download the ipk File from here and then install it either using the OWIF (Online Web Interface) - which you can access by typing the IP of the vu in your browser, or by using the Vu installation procedure as described here.

With only ordinary HD channels, do you set the VU+ display to 1080p or 2xxx (can't see the menu at the moment, it is scanning for channels) ?
I don't have access to 4K SAT channels.

In you have a UHD TV you can let the TV do the scaling and set the Vu to 1080p, but with that said, you can switch between the options on the Vu and see what you like more
